"During my time at UAMS-NW this past month I have really enjoyed creating contacts with community members that are working together to provide better access to healthy foods. Seeing everyone work together to accomplish one goal is phenomenal!"

- Dawn Nguyen, UAMS Northwest Service Member

"As I was talking to the different food banks in the area I began to realize how excited some of them were to work with Arkansas GardenCorps and UAMS Northwest to establish a food bank experience that was more health and culturally friendly for our community. Many of the people I talked to were willing to except the help to make the changes in translations into Marshallese and Spanish. I was so happy to hear that people were open to new ideas that would help our community for many years to come."

- Amber Garvin, UAMS Northwest Service Member

The UAMS Northwest REACH grant initiative seeks to drive down chronic disease problems and costs in the region by increasing access to opportunities for chronic disease prevention, risk reduction, and increasing access to environments with healthy food options for underserved minority communities in Northwest Arkansas.
